Which is the best blush brush and when do we use a blush brush?
A rosy cheek can make you look glowing and healthy. I personally never leave the house without some blush and some mascara. Blush adds dimension to your face.
A good blush brush is essential in order to apply the right amount of product exactly where you want it, and to blend it into the skin so it looks natural.
Blush brushes come in two shapes – round or a more triangular shape – and both make it easy to apply blush or bronzer to the apples of your cheeks and your cheekbones.
For a more precise application on a smaller area, you can use a more compact blush brush. For a more natural look that blends into the skin, the best brush is larger, denser, and soft.

1. Sigma Powder/Blush – F10
This is a medium size brush made of natural hair. It has a rounded end and as a special feature, it is slightly bevelled. The bristles of this brush are very soft and they ensure a precise application of the product.
I highly recommend using the Sigma F10 brush with powder blushes. You’ll love how soft it is, whether you’re applying blush or bronzer. The Sigma F10 brush is great for blending your bronzer and blush, giving you a naturally vibrant and contoured look.
Another plus, is that the brush does not hold onto extra product – it transfers it all to your skin, so you won’t have to use that much at once, and you don’t have to worry about overloading your cheeks with color. All you will get is a perfectly even application.
The brush is very light weight, long lasting and if you wash it carefully, it won’t shed at all. You can also use it with a powder highlighter. After all, it is a multipurpose brush!
As for any downsides, the Sigma Powder/Blush – F10 could be a little firmer, as it can spread outside the cheek area if you use too much pressure.
All in all, the quality is great and at $18, I believe it is a product worth buying (the best blush brush by my standards).
2. Real Techniques Blush Brush
The bristles of the Real Techniques Blush Brush are completely synthetic and hand-cut. They’re non-porous, so they don’t absorb any of your product, or the nasty things that are on everyone’s faces, like bacteria or dead skin.
This brush is very light-weight, as it has an aluminum handle rather than a wood handle. The brush has an oval shape, and gives a natural finish.
You can achieve flawless contouring and blending with this brush, and thanks to its light weight, you can carry it with you everywhere – when traveling or when going out. It is great with blush – you only have to put your product on the tip of the brush to have enough for an even application that you can blend naturally on your skin.
I am also a huge fan of using the Real Techniques Blush Brush with face powder to set my foundation or cover up midday shine!
This brush is so soft that it doesn’t feel like it’s scratching your skin, and it doesn’t shed at all. It’s super easy to clean, and so easy to use that I wholeheartedly recommend it to beginners.
As for other uses – you can also apply bronzer, highlighter and powder with it. It’s ideal for when you are on the run and do not have the time for a full face of makeup – a swipe on the cheeks and you’re done!
There could be some disadvantages too – the brush may be too big for blush if you have a small face, but perfect for face powder. As for the price, Real Techniques Blush Brush is cheaper than Sigma Powder/Blush – F10, costing around $9.
3. EcoTools Tapered Blush Brush
Well, this is the most special brush out of the three and you will immediately see why.
First of all, it is made of bamboo wood and recycled materials. The pouch that it comes in is also eco-friendly. When buying this brush, you actually donate money to environmental organizations. Of course, the bristles are 100% synthetic and extra soft.
The Tapered Blush Brush from EcoTools has a round tapered end. It doesn’t shed at all and it works best if washed after usage – it takes some time for it to dry, so it is recommended to leave it through the night.
It is the perfect product if you are looking for a natural-looking application. The shape gives you total control when applying the blush and it makes it good for blending too. The brush is not too dense, but it has the perfect amount of bristle density for fantastic performance.
Trick – you can turn it on its side and use it for contouring.
As for any complaints, EcoTools Tapered Blush Brush may be a little too big for blush and a little too small for powder.
However, it is efficient when you want to apply a light layer of face powder. Regarding the price, this one is the least expensive, at approximately $6.
4. bareMinerals Tapered Blush Brush
This perfectly rounded blush brush applies, blends, and contours your blush along your cheekbone, subtly and naturally adding a flush of color to the cheeks. The soft, flexible, and natural goat hair bristles also allow you to control the amount of color you apply.
Layering is key with this blush brush, it isn’t meant to be used in one stroke. The small size of this brush may surprise some users at first, but its small size is intentional and provides the user with more precision. This small brush is perfect for those who want more control over their blush application, it also works great for those with smaller cheekbones.
5. MAKE UP FOR EVER 160 Blush Brush
This long brush features a tapered point for blush application, similar to a calligraphy pen, and also has a beautiful wood design. Make Up For Ever’s bestselling blush brush is ideal for easy blush application, it can precisely transfer blush onto your cheeks at the exact place you’d like it to go.
The soft shape may take some getting used to but it does adapt to the shape of the face for ease of use over all shapes and contours. This brush is more efficiently used by those who have experience in makeup application, otherwise you might find the brush bristles and the extra long handle to be too soft to work with initially.
6. Bobbi Brown Blush Brush
This Bobbi Brown award-winning brush deserves its spot among the best blush brushes. It features curved edges and super-soft bristles designed to pick up and place precise amounts of color on the cheeks. While the price may be the steepest in the market of blush brushes, this brush is definitely made to last and is a durable brush that will last for years if taken care of properly.
The bristles are appropriately and densely packed together which is a great feature adding to the exact application of this design. The best part is that this brush smoothly glides over your skin and successfully gets the job done during your morning makeup routine.
7. Hourglass Foundation/Blush Brush No. 2
This medium-size foundation/blush brush is perfect for beginners in the makeup realm. The forgiving size is most appropriate for those learning how to accurately apply their blush and bronzer. This multipurpose makeup brush can also be used in the application of foundation.
Though it is also known for successfully contouring and highlighting the face, users can expect a polished look each and every time. The synthetic bristle hairs are also a bonus for those who are animal-friendly. Though synthetic, this brush still applies natural-looking blush to the skin. Just make sure to purchase brush wipes to clean your brushes, especially if you use one brush for both foundation and blush application.
In conclusion, all these blush brushes are the best quality without breaking the bank, giving you more money to spend on makeup! While I like all three, one might be better for you depending on what you plan to use it for when applying makeup.
For example – if you want a more natural look you can go for EcoTools Tapered Blush Brush, if you are a beginner you can safely go with Real Techniques Brush and if you prefer a natural hair brush you can go with Sigma Powder/Blush – F10.
Remember: The boosting effects of adding blush or bronzer atop your cheeks can truly make a difference. Blush can add a bit of life to your face even though you only caught a few hours of shut eye. It can make your appearance warmer and friendlier as well. Though, all these things happen if, and only if, blush is applied accurately and in moderation. The following best blush brushes have been reviewed and passed the test. These popular blush brushes evenly and accurately distribute color, meaning nobody should mistake you for a circus member.
